Here’s a little clip from MMPfilms showing what Thomas Harstad, Christian Halland and their photographer IJ experienced when they where filming at mt.rose a couple of days ago. Take it as a lesson and be always aware of the consequences when hitting the backcountry! Fortunately nothing happened to the guys and they could enjoy the rest of their trip. That’s it for today, respect mother nature and stay safe!

btzlogo.jpgAfter CHILLing last year, H8 productions and the Advita crew have been working hard on their new video which will be out in fall 07. Due to lack of snow in Europe, the guys had to travel a lot to find the right spots to express their styles. So this film will be about all their adventures, good and bad.

Check out their first teaser and head to their website for more videos, rider presentations and goodies.

As they say on their website “Focus is a raw and aggresive look into the lives of snowboarders trying to make a career out of something they love so much. Let us take you on an artistic journey into the lives of a few individuals and their circle of friends who are all on different paths but are all connected by snowboarding. This film will document a winter of their triumphs and failures and why they put so much blood, sweat and years into this winter passion. People, who struggle through many things in life just so they can snowboard. People with everything to lose and possibly nothing to gain: people brought together by one focus – snowboarding.”

O’Neill Big Mountain Pro 2007March is a very busy month contest-wise and we are receiving press releases from all over the place right now. March is also usually the time of the year with the best snow conditions…let’s beg that winter finally starts massively in Europe too. The organisers of the innovative freeride contest format – the Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro 2007 – definitly need it anyways!

With innovation lying at the core of everything we do, it made perfect sense to push the envelope and develop a new contest format for 2007, and one that promises to revolutionize the world of freeride snowboard and ski competition as we know it.

In early March 2007, the inaugural edition of the Swatch O’Neill Big Mountain Pro will see 16 of the world’s best snowboarders and skiers coming together for a competition like no other.

Starting out in the picturesque Swiss ski resort of Laax with the Take-Off Party on 1st March and culminating in the Awards Party in the Austrian city of Innsbruck on 10th March, the O’Neill Big Mountain Pro will adopt an innovative mobile format guaranteeing the competition the best possible snow conditions and terrain.

All the shit that we love here @BrOADER. What’s hot in the video? For sure the intro will blast you. Go and have a look at it on the Volcom website.

Lipstick Gang Lipstick Gang is a melting-pot of European riders. They are 5 snowboarders (Marco Rebetez, Max Fournier, Bruno Fragnière, Ghis Albasini & Lio Rebetez), 3 freeskiers (Phil Fragnière, Anthony Vuignier & Yvan Metrailler), two skaters (Steven Makusu & Wask cordova) and Alex Cereda assumes the whole coordination. You can have a look at their website, where you will find short video parts and pics of the riders, and their personal emails if you want to send them a Big Up. Watch their new 06-07 teaser…

fis-snowboard1.jpgFunny coincidence…not!!
We’ve just posted our BrOADER[view] with Drew Stevenson, the Boss of the TTR, a few days ago, and at the exact same time in the swiss resort of Arosa, the FIS Snowboard world championships were kicking off.

The what? Yes that’s right the snowboard circuit driven by race skiers, dude!! Check out the words they use in their program description: “disciplines, opening ceremony, prize-giving ceremony…”. It all just seems so strict, controlled, formatted. And in their teaser (further down), why is there so much skiing, uhu? Are they trying to make us believe snowboarding is just another discipline of ski?

@BrOADER, we asked ourselves if we should post or not about this event.
First of all we don’t share their vision of snowboarding and the way they “promote” it. The past Olympic pipe contests – run by the FIS – might have had positive impacts for our sport in general but maybe it’s simply because they were animated by TTR riders. Remember Heikki’s attitude in Salt Lake or Shaun’s smooth victory celebration ride in Torino?
We are not extremists but we believe snowboarding has to live by his own, follow his own path guided by the right people.
Secondly who watches slalom anyways! 😉

But [snow]BrOADER deals with the European snowboarding action and – you may like it or not, let us know – the FIS SWC are part of it. So it’s our duty to keep you informed…
However we’ll focuse on the results of the BoarderX and freestyle ‘disciplines’ because watching parallel slalom is too painfull!
